5th Deer, 2nd Buck

deer By Joseph DiCesare

Dear Mark,

This story is cool, its about how I killed my 9 point.

It all started on December 19, 2003 at my hunting lease down in Osceola County, Florida. It ws a school day off and my dad took off work to go hunting that afternoon.

He wanted to go hunting because he had a feeling about that afternoon. we got in our stand which we call the west stand at a food plot. we got in the stand at 3:45 p.m. A couple of minutes went by and my dad said “wake me if you see any deer, and he fell asleep. At 4:38 p.m.

I looked to the left and as soon as I looked straight again, I saw him, A nine point. I also saw a six point and three does came running to the feeder. The feeder hadn’t even gone off yet. I turned to my dad that instant and said “Dad, that’s him.” Our friend had seen a big 10 point here and shot at him but missed or barely wounded him. My dad woke up and I pulled my .243 single shot.

I got him broad side and pulled the trigger, he walked southwest to us and I reached for another shell because I thought I had missed him. I got up with the shell and looked at him and he had a big blood patch on his shoulder. I knew he was dead! It was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I will remember that moment for life.
