GUNTERSVILLE MAY 2005Water Temperature: 75Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Well, I'm still not setting the water on fire out there. The last few trips have been pretty hit and miss, with some tough periods. The pics are from yesterdays trip with Dan. Yeah, I know they look like the same fish, he even has the same pose... lol. But they are two different fish. They are the only two good fish he caught yesterday, along with a couple of shorts. One came on a Zara Spook Jr and the other on a YUM 10" ribbion tail rigged as a swimming worm. (1/8oz TG tungsten bullet weight). We had a great time, but the fishing was tough for Dan. Today was a little better, at least before the gale force winds came in. It was a nice morning, and my clients who were hunting tournament fish managed to get a best 5 of about 19 pounds. We really struggled after 10am today. We had 7 keepers all day. The winds kept us off of any open water so that didn't help. We managed to get a couple good fish on a 1oz Booyah jig with a big YUM chunk, pitching it in open water hydrilla. Swimming a YUM 10" ribbon tail was also productive. The grass is finally starting to catch up a little, it's still pretty far behind but should catch up the next couple weeks. Top water really should pick up as the post spawn gets into high gear and the schooling starts. Good luck, get out when you can, take a kid and put them back alive.
