LOGAN MARTIN JUNE 2005Water Temperature: 86Water Clarity: 6 inches Wed 6-16: Conditions: cloudy to p/cloudy, clearing somewhat by 1PM. Noon temp around 90. ( a nice cool day ) S winds at 5-10. Lake level is down apx 1 foot ( see my site www.alabamalakes.com for exact daily water levels) Water has a heavy stain upriver. I fished today with Kenny Beam and his partner John from GA today. These two are a trip, I haven't laughed so much in a long while. John, you're crazy ! We started about 15 miles upriver from Riverside. Started fishing the grass with 1/4 oz buzz baits. Kenny had a fish on his first cast. After begging John to put down the Little George and get a buzz bait he too began catching nice fish. Buzz Baits in the grass are working very well at Logan Martin early. Around 9AM I suggested the Spotsticker. Ha, they both informed me that #1 ain't no way you gonna catch a keeper fish on that little thing. #2 We ain't leaving this grass. After a while without a bite I finally convinced John to give the spotsticker a try. I loaded it with a NetBait Key Lime Pie Finesse worm and a gob of Mega Strike. Poor John, nearly got his arm jerked off on his first cast, but missed the fish. Then he got serious. After John landed a few on the Spotsticker, Kenny just had to try that little ole rig, but of course he did not believe that scent of any kind was any count. Well, John kept on catching fish and Kenny didn't. He finally broke down and asked for some Mega Strike, Whamo, first cast a 2 lb spot. We have at least two Georgia folks that now have been converted to the Spotstiker and MegaStrike. We had an excellent day, catching fish at most every stop. INDEX: |
