LAY LAKE JUNE 2005

Water Temperature: 78
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Got out this morning for about 4 hours, overcast with a good breeze. Surface temperature 78 with the water clear for Lay, in the creeks you have more than a couple of feet of visibility and a foot or so out on the main river, water was 6 inches or so above normal full pool. Fished today from the Spring Creek area up to Cedar Creek starting in the weeds swimming a white Oldham jig and a black and blue seismic toad. Caught two on the jig and one on the toad, with my best fish of the morning coming on the jig that weighed 4 lbs 5 oz. The other two weed fish were in the 2 to 2+ range. With the overcast skies I fished the jig and toad for a couple of hours without any other takers. Moved out of the weeds and hit a couple of normally reliable points using 3/16 spotstickers with green glitter and red bug hand poured worms picking up 4 keeper size spots and a couple of short fish. Started hitting some piers and boat houses in 5 to 10 feet of water with the jig head and worm and picked up 3 more good keeper size fish in the 2+ lb range along with a couple of short fish before calling it a day. Best 5 this morning in the 13 lb range.
