Its been a while since I last posted. I've been busy with fishing and family. Overall the fishing has been much tougher this year for me. There have been several trips we came in short of our snapper limit. The worst fishing for me was the week after T.S. Arlene. The last few trips have been much better. It seems that many spots public and private have come back to life. I am still having an easier time catching snapper to the west. I have found a lot of spots south of Orange Beach when I was running a streak of 12 hour grouper trips 50 miles out. The reefs I am finding south of O.B. just simple do not have many fish on them. I don't know if is because of Ivan or just because everyone else has already found the same reefs. We did have a string of good grouper trips after Arlene. The snapper fishing was so bad for me that I took everyone I could long for grouper. We would fish natural bottom in 200' to 225'. The interesting thing about this was I could never catch fish twice in the same place. Every trip I had to find the new magic rock. The AJ's have been non-existent for me. Even on my long trips we would only catch one or two. There have been some small AJ's on the O.B. tanks but few keepers. We are taking a day off for T.S. Cindy after that I will be back to roaming the gulf in search of the elusive honey hole.
