Governor
Bob Riley bagged this impressive 10-point buck along with an exotic
Nilgai on recent hunting trip to the 435,000-acre Kenedy Ranch,
the largest contiguous ranch in Texas, just south of Corpus Christi.
Governor Riley dropped both animals with off-hand shots from over
100 yards away with a Browning A-bolt .270. Governor Riley spotted
the ten-point as the buck sneaked along the trail with a couple
of does.
He made the shot across the Texas mesquite to kill the buck, which
scored 155 B&C. Governor Riles was accompanied on the trip by
Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner
Barrett Lawley, Conservation Advisory Board Chairman Dan Moultrie
and Robert Gardner, who won the trip at an auction during the Governor’s
One Shot Turkey Hunt. The One Shot Turkey Hunt benefits the Lynn
Boykin Youth Wildlife Scholarship at Auburn University. “It
was probably one of the best hunts I ever had,” Riley said,
“and my sons, who are all hunters, were really jealous of
the kill. If I ever go again, I think I better bring them along.
